KANITHAM runs on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). The installer is about 79 MB.
Download KANITHAM Setup 1.6.1.exe from the Download page. If Google Drive says it can't scan the file for viruses, click Download anyway.
Double-click the file. If Windows shows Windows protected your PC, click More info → Run anyway.
Click I Agree, choose the folder (or keep the suggested one) and click Install.
Open KANITHAM from the desktop icon while connected to the internet. This starts your seven-day trial for this computer.
Click ＋ Create New Company and fill in the business name, GSTIN, address, city and pincode. You are ready to bill.
On a computer that will work on another computer's data (an office LAN), do not create a company — follow the LAN guide instead.
Trial & activation.
The trial gives you every feature for seven days. It is tied to the computer, so uninstalling and reinstalling does not start a new trial. When it ends, your data stays — you can still open and view it — and creating invoices needs activation.
To activate
Pay ₹5,000 for the year to JEYAN VIJAYAN ASSOCIATE.
Open Settings→Licence. Click ⧉ Copy beside your Machine ID, or click 💬 Send on WhatsApp to send it with your business name to +91 89034 00706.
You receive an Activation Key starting with KNTM-. Paste it in the box and click 🔑 Activate.
Each key is made for one Machine ID. If you replace the computer, send the new Machine ID and we will help you move the licence.
LAN / multi-computer.
One computer keeps the data (the server); the others connect to it over your office network and work on the same companies at the same time. Only the server needs the licence.
On the server computer
Activate KANITHAM on this computer first.
Open Settings→LAN / Multi-Computer and click 🖧 Start sharing on LAN.
If Windows asks about the firewall, tick Private networks and click Allow.
Note the address and the security code shown on the screen.
Create a user for each person in Settings→User Management.
On each other computer
Install KANITHAM. When it opens, do not create a company and do not restore a backup.
Choose Connect to a KANITHAM Server (on the first screen, or in Settings→LAN / Multi-Computer).
Click 🔍 Search the network and pick the server — or type its address. The port is 47800.
Type the security code and click 🖧 Connect. Log in with your own user name.
If the server's IP address changes after a restart, KANITHAM 1.4.2 and later finds the server again by itself. To stop it changing at all, ask your network person to reserve an IP for the server in the router (DHCP reservation).
e-Invoice & e-Way Bill.
KANITHAM connects to the government e-Invoice (IRP) and e-Way Bill systems through a GST Suvidha Provider (GSP). You need a GSP account and an API user for your GSTIN.
Sign up with a GSP. They give you the API URLs, the client ID and secret (or GSP headers) and the NIC public key.
On einvoice1.gst.gov.in go to API Registration, choose your GSP and create an API user name and password. For e-Way Bills without IRN, do the same on the e-Way Bill portal.
In KANITHAM open Settings→e-Invoice & e-Way Bill, tick Enable e-Invoice (IRN) and / or Enable e-Way Bill.
Choose Sandbox, enter the details from your GSP and the API user, save and test with a sample invoice.
When it works, switch to Production with your production credentials.
Open a saved invoice and click e-Invoice / e-Way Bill to generate. The IRN, Ack No. and signed QR print on the bill.
Before generating, check
Your company profile has GSTIN, address, City and Pincode.
The customer has GSTIN, billing address, City / Place and Pincode (Parties→Edit).
Every item line has a 4, 6 or 8-digit HSN / SAC code.
After the IRN is generated the invoice is locked. An IRN can be cancelled only within 24 hours. Passwords and secrets are stored encrypted on your computer.
Import Center.
Bring masters and vouchers from Tally, Zoho Books, BUSY or any Excel / CSV file, and post bank statements.
Open Data→Import Center and choose what you are importing — ledgers, parties, items, opening balances, sales, purchases, expenses, Day Book or bank statement.
Pick the file, then tick only the sheets you want.
Match the columns once; KANITHAM remembers them next time.
Run the dry run to see what will be created, then Import.
For a bank statement, review every row first — accept the suggested ledger or change it. Unclear rows go to Suspense A/c.
Rows already imported are skipped. To undo a whole import, open Data→Import History.
Backup & restore.
KANITHAM keeps a daily copy of your data for the last 30 days automatically. Keep your own copy too.
Open Data→Backup & Restore and click Backup to File. Save it to a pen drive or cloud folder.
To restore on a new computer, install KANITHAM and choose ⤓ Restore from Backup on the first screen, or Restore Backup in the same menu.
On LAN computers that connect to a server, there is nothing to restore — all data is on the server. Back up the server.
Updating KANITHAM.
Take a backup (Data→Backup & Restore).
Download the new installer and run it over the old version. Your companies, users and licence stay as they are.
On an office LAN, update the server first, then the other computers.
Frequently asked.
Only once, the first time you open it, to start the trial. After that it works offline. The internet is needed for e-Invoice / e-Way Bill and for downloading updates.
On your own computer (or on your office server when you use LAN). It is not uploaded to any cloud. Take regular backups to a pen drive.
One year of KANITHAM for one office: every feature, every user, every computer connected on your LAN, updates and support for the year. GSP charges for e-Invoice are paid to your GSP.
No. The trial is registered to the computer, so a reinstall continues the same trial with the days that are left.
None. Close that and choose Connect to a KANITHAM Server instead. A connected computer works directly on the server's data; restoring would create a separate copy.
Update to 1.4.2 or later — the other computers then find the server again by themselves. For a permanent fix, reserve an IP address for the server in your router.
Yes. Export your masters and vouchers to Excel and bring them in with Data → Import Center. You choose the sheets, match the columns and try a dry run before anything is saved.
Yes. Each person gets their own login with a role — Owner, Accountant, Billing User, Viewer, or one you define — and every change is recorded in the audit trail.
Yes. Add your UPI ID in the company details, then switch on the UPI QR in Settings → Print / Invoice. The QR carries the invoice total (or the balance due), so the customer's UPI app opens with the amount filled in.
Windows shows this for software from smaller publishers. Click More info → Run anyway. You can check the file is genuine with the SHA-256 code on the Download page.
KANITHAM is a Windows application for Windows 10 and 11. On a Mac it needs Windows (for example through Boot Camp or a virtual machine).
Open Settings → Licence and send your Machine ID on WhatsApp as before. You receive a new key; your data is untouched.
